1964 1/2 - 1966 Mustangs used a clamp which clamped the bottom of the battery down to the battery tray. However, some different style batteries now do not have the appropriate "clamp tab" at the bottom of the battery that permits the original-style hold down clamp to work. This converion bracket allows you to use 67-70 style hold down rods & clamps with your original or reproduction 64-66 battery tray. Also seen as an upgrade to some as the 64-66 style hold-down was somewhat awkward and greatly improved in 1967.
